Beartown Patchwork & Quilters

Beartown Patchwork & Quilters started 40 years ago with a group of ladies meeting in their own homes and is now a large vibrant group meeting twice a month on alternate Tuesdays from 8pm to 10pm at Wellspring Methodist Church, Canal Road, Congleton, Cheshire. You can read more about the history of the group in the Congleton Chronicle report for September/October 23.

We welcome members from surrounding areas who have an interest in Patchwork and Quilting and all things Crafty. Our regular activities include speakers, challenges, social sewing evenings and ‘makes’.  If you are struggling with a technique or new skill there is always someone who can help. We have a small library of books and equipment that we loan out. We also sell essential bits and bobs – sewing machine needles, rotary cutter blades, wadding etc – at a cheaper price for our members. Our group is suitable for those who enjoy traditional, modern, contemporary or art quilts. The ‘Show and Tell’ at the beginning of each meeting is encouraging and inspiring and shows the depth and breadth of skills, techniques and diversity of our members.

Jean Bell is our chair, Helen Wardle the secretary, Chris Flatman the treasurer and Nancy Clark sends out the fortnightly email to remind us what’s on.

You can find out more about what we do in our What’s On section which covers our Programme of events, Do Your Own Things days at Astbury Village Hall, and some of our past and present projects. Along with Places to visit, things to do.. such as local exhibitions and places to purchase all things patchworky!

Visitors are very welcome; the first visit is free and subsequent visits are £3.00 unless you choose to join and become a member.
