The first meeting in January for Beartown P’s & Q’s was cancelled due to poor weather and so the AGM was postponed until April.
The two meetings in February were coordinated by Ruth Axson. Donated silk fabric was supplied to members to take home and dye with rusted items such as old keys, rusty nails and horseshoes. The resulting fabric was made into patchwork blocks which will be made into a contemporary piece, designed by Ruth, and to be exhibited later in the year. There is a post about A group Silk Quilt just before this one.
On 4th March, Chris Flatman supplied kits for cardmaking. The kits included felt and threads to make a fabric landscape picture. See 2025 Spring Card Make for some of the results.
The speaker on 18th March was Nikki Parmenter with “Myths, Legends & Stories in Textlies and Mixed Media.” Nikki shared a huge variety of her textile samples and generously passed them around for closer examination. She works with a variety of mediums including plastics to create wonderful works of art. There are some pictures of her creations on our Instagram.
In April, the AGM was held with the committee remaining in their posts.
On the 29th April, Nancy Clark prepared instructions for members to make fabric boxes in three sizes.

On 13th May there was a talk by Megan Barley about her quilting journey. She is the current coordinator for Region 13 of The Quilters’ Guild of The British Isles. Members appreciated being able to handle some of her creations and admire the slow stitching. Use the slideshow below to see some examples.
