at Congleton Town Hall, from 10am to 4pm each day. Admission is free.
A cafe is available for sandwiches, cake, tea and coffee.
The chosen charity —- Ruby’s of course!
Our Ruby Exhibition marks 40 years of Beartown Patchwork & Quilters, and will present recent quilts made by our members as well as a selection of quilts members have made across the four decades the group has been running. Raffle tickets will be available to purchase at our Ruby Exhibition, with all proceeds being donated to Ruby’s Fund. There will be a variety of one-of-a-kind beautiful patchwork prizes being raffled off, including two full size bed quilts, a throw or sofa size quilt and cosy cushions. All items in the raffle are made by members of the group and a lot of love and care has gone into them. The prizes will be on display to see in person at our Exhibition, and we shall also include details of them on our website and social media. Watch this space!
The Charity
A much-loved local charity, Ruby’s, in Congleton offers a wide range of facilities, activities and support for children who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and their families. Ruby’s provides a safe and supportive environment with experienced staff who understand the challenges for children and young people, aged 0 -18 years, their parents, and their siblings. It can be hard for families to find public spaces that can accommodate children with SEND, which is where Ruby’s provides a vital role. From sensory play and group activities in their children and families centre to outreach support with their sensory bus and respite opportunities, Ruby’s supports families across Cheshire East. Anne Carter has made a vibrantly coloured snuggle quilt for the raffle . It’s a perfect size for throwing over your legs while watching TV or reading a book. Helen has made matching cushions that complement the colour palette .
February 2024 update
The exhibition committee will be visiting the town hall to finalise the layout to make sure the quilts are showcased effectively. They are aiming to give visitors an enjoyable experience, as along with the quilts on display, there will be a sales table, tombola, examples of charity quilts made by group members and a brief history of the group over the past 40 years
April 2024 – planning the layout
The members of the Ruby Exhibition Committee have been hard at work, ensuring that every detail is planned for the upcoming exhibition in June. Their recent visit to Congleton Town Hall was a crucial step in finalising the event’s requirements. Following this visit the committee has carefully mapped out the floor plan, strategically arranging the space to showcase the exquisite quilts created by the team. Each quilt on display tells a story, reflecting the passion and creativity of our members.
At the sales table visitors will be able to purchase 16-inch cushions, tote bags, pin badges, notebook covers and other useful and beautiful items.
With all final activities planned, the team is working tirelessly to ensure a seamless run-up to the big day.
The group quilt for the raffle is now completed and ready to go! Crafted collaboratively by our talented quilters, this magnificent quilt celebrates the Ruby Anniversary of the Beartown Patchwork & Quilters. Its theme? Beautiful red roses—a fitting tribute to 40 years of creativity and camaraderie.
Raffle tickets are now available for sale and can be purchased from group members, and are available for sale at the exhibition. All funds from the raffle go to Ruby’s.
