One of our members, Frances (Fran), has just launched her website offering quilt patterns to download and a bespoke quilt pattern design service. Frances joined our group in 2018 and is already a member of our committee. In her own words, she says the following:
“Joining Beartown Patchworkers and Quilters has proved to be one of the best things I have done! Everyone is really friendly, and although I was very new to quilting at the time I joined, I was made to feel so welcome. I really enjoy their interesting program of events including seasonal makes, talks from guest speakers and social sewing evenings. There are a huge variety of different skills and quilting styles within the group, so there are always inspiring things to see in the ‘Show & Tell’ sessions each meeting. All manner of creative sewn projects are shared in ‘Show and Tell’, so along with beautiful quilts there are also lovely cushions, bags, me-made garments, knitted items and more to see. The group are prolific makers too, with many of them regularly contributing to charity projects and group quilts. I felt there was so much lovely work being shown it would be nice to celebrate it and share it, so I set up an Instagram account for the group – @beartownpandq. It’s fun to try out new techniques and different types of projects together – I love learning tips from fellow members, and I know I would not be pursuing my small business venture had it not been for their encouragement!
