On Saturday 5th October 2024, at Astbury Village hall, fifteen members of Beartown Patchwork and Quilters attended a raw edge appliqué workshop by Lizzie Wall. The workshop was entitled “Two Fine Fish”,
Members were shown how to cut out fish templates which were then collaged and embellished by layering them with colourful and exotic fabric, using the heat and bond application method.
The embellishment could be as simple or as extravagant as desired. The fish were then applied to a background fabric. Lizzie provided various examples –
In the afternoon Lizzie showed how free motion quilting could be used to enhance our aquatic masterpieces.
The workshop was great fun, educational and entertaining . The results were amazing!
No two fish were alike. They were all different!
